The 25C040-E/P is a 400-Kilobit,
Serial EEPROM device from Microchip. It offers 1,000,000 write/erase cycles and a data retention of up to 100 years. The device operates from a single supply and is available in 8-pin PDIP and SOIC packages. It has an operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C. It offers two write modes, sequential and page, each of which is programmed with a 2-wire serial interface. The page write mode offers the ability to write up to 32 bytes of data in an 8-byte page. The device also features a "Write protect" pin which can be used to provide software and/or hardware write protection. The 25C040-E/P is suitable for a wide range of applications such as memory in diagnostic equipment, set-top boxes and other consumer electronic devices.
