geomorphological unit
The Roztocze geomorphological unit is located in southeastern Poland and northeastern Slovakia. It is composed of a series of ridges and lowlands, forming a distinct physical feature. Its highest point is the ZN155.002 or 'Zamkowa Gora', a hill that rises to a maximum elevation of almost 396m. This hill is an important feature of the region and provides an important vantage point for the surrounding landscape. The ZN155.002 is covered in mixed deciduous and coniferous forest, providing an important natural habitat for a range of different species of plants, fungi and animals. The mixed forest also helps to protect the soils from erosion, contributing to the region's natural hydrological systems. The hill is also home to several archaeological sites, and is believed to have been a focus of settlement since prehistoric times.
