The SMBJ28A is a 45.4V 31.1V 28V bilateral surface mount Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) manufactured by SEMIWARE. The component is packaged in a DO-214AA configuration and is compliant with Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directives. The SMBJ28A is a powerful surge suppressor meant to be used in automotive and industrial applications and it is able to handle a maximum continuous Current of 4.5 A per line. Under surge conditions, the maximum pulse current the component can handle is 400A (10/1000 µs waveform). This TVS is capable of clamping a 5.1V (max) voltage under a 1500W peak pulse power in the line according to its datasheet. The SMBJ28A features a low operating voltage of 28.5V, allowing it to be used in applications with high system noise. Additionally, its reverse stand-off voltage tolerance is 28V which makes it one of the most capable options in its category. The part is also designed to enable good surge protection even in industrial environments with high in-rush currents.
