SMDA24C is a chip, produced by Semtech, which is intended to protect a system, device or circuit (such as an LED driver) from damaging electrical over-current, over-voltage and over-temperature conditions. It integrates a series of Integrated Circuit (IC) protection features into a single 4-pin device. Its two external N-channel MOSFETs provide bidirectional current limit protection and its integrated current sense resistor and comparator provide precision over-current protection uniquely tailored to the application. Other features include programmable over-temperature shutdown, diode emulation for improved efficiency, programmable short-circuit turn-on and over-voltage protection. The device also has an active-low reset output, indicating to the application when the device is actively protecting the system or when the system has entered a fault condition requiring service.
