A5973AD Up to 1.5 A step-down switching regulator for automotive applications Datasheet - production data Applications Dedicated to automotive applications HSOP8 - exposed pad Description The A5973AD is a step-down monolithic power switching regulator with a minimum switch current Features limit of 1.8 A, so it is able to deliver up to 1.5 A DC Qualified following the AEC-Q100 current to the load depending on the application requirements (see PPAP for more details) conditions. The output voltage can be set from 1.235 V to V . The high current level is also 1.5 A DC output current IN achieved thanks to an HSOP8 package with an Operating input voltage from 4 V to 36 V exposed frame, that allows to reduce the R th(JA) 3.3 V / ( 2%) reference voltage down to approximately 40 C/W. The device uses an internal P-channel DMOS transistor (with Output voltage adjustable from 1.235 V to V IN a typical R of 250 m) as a switching DS(on) Low dropout operation: 100% duty cycle element to minimize the size of the external 500 kHz internally fixed frequency components. An internal oscillator fixes the switching frequency at 500 kHz. Having Voltage feed-forward a minimum input voltage of 4 V only it fits the Zero load current operation automotive applications requiring the device Internal current limiting operation even in cold crank conditions. A pulse- by-pulse current limit with the internal frequency Inhibit for zero current consumption modulation offers an effective constant current Synchronization short-circuit protection.
