Photodiodes
A photodiode is a type of diode that is sensitive to light. It works by taking in light particles, or “photons”, which it then converts into a current. The amount of current which the photodiode produces can be used to measure the light intensity of the environment. Photodiodes are commonly used in many different areas including optoelectronic devices, optical communication systems, noise reduction systems, and energy harvesting.
