Rectifiers are electronic devices that convert alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC). Traditional rectifiers contain two or more diodes that are connected in a bridge configuration to convert the AC voltage to a DC voltage of the same magnitude but with the polarity reversed. Rectifiers come in many different configurations, most notably single- and three-phase configurations. Their main purpose is to convert a varying AC voltage to a constant DC voltage, suitable for electronic circuits, such as a DC input voltage for an inverter. Additionally, they can be used as error correctors in the data transmission process.
