EEPLD - Electronically Erasable Programmable Logic Devices

EEPLD stands for Electronically Erasable Programmable Logic Device. It is a type of programmable logic device (PLD) which can be erased and reprogrammed multiple times using an external programmer or debugger tool. EEPLD technology provides a low-cost, high-density alternative to ASICs (Application Specific Integrated Circuits) or ASSPs (Application Specific Standard Products). The technology is most often used to integrate specific functions into a system such as communications, video, and audio processing applications, as well as other custom applications. EEPLD devices typically feature a reconfigurable internal structure that allows dedicated hardware functions to be implemented in a single chip. EEPLD devices also offer a higher level of integration compared to macrocells and other standard logic functions, reducing design costs and providing more programmable resources on a single chip.
