The 20KPA256A is a low-profile, bidirectional, surface-mount TVS diode from Littelfuse. It is designed to protect high-speed signal lines from overvoltage transients caused by electrostatic discharge, cable discharge events, and lightning strikes. The diode features an operating voltage of 20 volts and a maximum breakdown voltage of 57 volts. The device also offers a low forward operation voltage of 0.375 volts, a high maximum pulse current of 12 amperes, and an unidirectional current clamping capability of 24 amperes. The device provides adequate electrical isolation between the protected application and the board in order to stop destructive current flow when an overvoltage occurs. The 20KPA256A is RoHS compliant and is also suitable for applications such as industrial Ethernet, USB ports, and RS232 lines.
