The Industrial Design Control Protocol (IDCP) is an open, vendor-independent communication protocol providing a means of controlling and monitoring industrial devices such as motorized pallet handling systems, truck weighing, and material flow control systems. IDCP-5 is part of a modular extension for the modern Modbus Ethernet Control Protocol (MECP). It further extends MECP to include support for open interoperable wireless sensor and actuator networks. IDCP-5 provides an API for creating and managing remote mobile devices, enabling communication between them and the devices already connected to MECP networks, allowing for improved control, monitoring, and manipulation of devices in the network. IDCP-5 also provides control functions and coding that allow for development of applications on the remote mobile devices.
