The MCP625-E/UN is a microcontroller-based hardware supervised real-time clock (RTC) module from Microchip Technology. The module includes a battery backup, and automatically switches to the battery during an external power supply failure, preventing data corruption or time limit violations. It is built around the Microchip MCP6284E 8-bit microcontroller, and includes I2C/SMBus/SPI communications interfaces that facilitate communication with a host processor. The MCP625-E/UN has 8KB of flash memory, 128 bytes of RAM, and a 32.768 kHz crystal oscillator. It also provides up to four alarms, up to ten interrupts, and a programmable frequency output.
