MP8709 High Efficiency 4A, 21V, 500kHz Synchronous Step-down Converter The Future of Analog IC Technology DESCRIPTION FEATURES The MP8709 is a high frequency synchronous Wide 4.5V to 21V Operating Input Range rectified step-down switch mode converter with 4A Output Current built in power MOSFETs. It offers a very Low Rds(on) Internal Power MOSFETs compact solution to achieve 4A continuous Low-EMI Switching Speed Technology output current over a wide input supply range High Efficiency Synchronous Mode Operation with excellent load and line regulation. The Fixed 500kHz Switching Frequency MP8709 has synchronous mode operation for Sync from 300kHz to 2MHz External Clock higher efficiency over output current load range. Internal Compensation MP8709 achieves low EMI signature with well Integrated Bootstrap Diode controlled switching edges. OCP Protection (Hiccup Mode) Thermal Shutdown Current mode operation provides fast transient Output Adjustable from 0.8V response and eases loop stabilization. Available in a Thermally Enhanced 8-pin SOIC Full protection features include OCP and package thermal shut down. APPLICATIONS The MP8709 requires a minimum number of Notebook Systems and I/O Power readily available standard external components Networking Systems and is available in a space saving 8-pin SOIC Digital Set Top Boxes package with an exposed pad.
