This literature is subject to all applicable copyright laws and is not for resale in any manner.FAN4800AU/CU PFC/ PWM Controller Combination September 2015 FAN4800AU / FAN4800CU PFC/ PWM Controller Combination Features Description Pin-to-Pin Compatible with ML4800, FAN4800, The highly integrated FAN4800AU/CU parts are CM6800, and CM6800A specially designed for power supplies that consist of boost PFC and PWM. They require very few external PWM Configurable for Current-Mode or components to achieve versatile protections and Feed-Forward Voltage-Mode Operation compensation. They are available in 16-pin DIP and Internally Synchronized Leading-Edge PFC and SOP packages. Trailing-Edge PWM in One IC The PWM can be used in current or Voltage Mode. In Low Operating Current Voltage Mode, feed-forward from the PFC output bus can reduce secondary output ripple. Innovative Switching-Charge Multiplier Divider To evaluate FAN4800AU/CU for replacing existing Average-Current-Mode for Input-Current Shaping FAN4800A/C, FAN4800AS/CS, old version FAN4800 PFC Over-Voltage and Under-Voltage Protections and ML4800 boards, six things must be completed before the fine-tuning procedure: PFC Feedback Open-Loop Protection 1. Change R resistor from the old value to a higher AC Cycle-by-Cycle Current Limiting for PFC/PWM resistor value: 6 M to 8 M. Power-on Sequence Control and Soft-Start 2. Change RT/CT pin from the existing values to Line Sagging Protection R =6.8 k and C =1000 pF to have f =64 kHz T T PFC and f =64 kHz. PWM f =4f =4f for FAN4800AU RTCT PFC PWM 3. The VRMS pin needs to be 1.224 V at V =85 V IN AC f =4f =2f for FAN4800CU RTCT PFC PWM for universal input application with line input from 85 V to 270 V . AC AC Applications 4. Change ISENSE pin filter from the exiting values to Desktop PC Power Supply R =51 and C =0.01 F for higher bandwidth. Filter Filter Internet Server Power Supply 5. At full load, the average V must be ~4.5 V and VEA ripple on V needs to be less than 400 mV. VEA LCD TV/ Monitor Power Supply 6. For the SS pin, the soft-start current has been UPS reduced to half the FAN4800 capacitor.
