The SOP8501-TL-E is an OFF-Line Quasi-Resonant (QLR) PWM Controller IC from ON Semiconductor. It is a high performance system-on-chip that integrates a main power stage and energy management functions, with many of the advanced features needed to drive cost-effective, high performance AC/DC power supplies that meet international energy efficiency standards. It is capable of driving both single-ended and bridge topologies, and includes what ON Semiconductor calls “Possibility Management”, which involves continuously monitoring the input power source and output load to ensure optimal power transfer efficiency while maintaining a tight output voltage. This device is designed to enable low power standby, active power, and light load efficiency levels that are compliant with Energy STAR, CEC, EU Erp and CoC Tier II efficiency requirements.
