The Seeed Studio SW-420 Vibration Sensor (also known as an accelerometer) is a transducer that measures acceleration in three axes—X, Y, and Z. The sensor contains MEMS (microelectromechanical systems) technology, utilizing a thin film of aluminum or silicon and pyroelectric elements to measure movements in vibrations or shocks. It detects acceleration both positive and negative to a range of -4 to 4G. The output type is analog, with three output pins for each of the X, Y, and Z axes. It is also both temperature and humidity resistant for long-term use in harsh conditions. Additionally, the SW-420 supports a wide voltage range (2.0 to 5.5V) allowing it to be used with a wide variety of microcontrollers and boards.
