The SMAJ40A is a unidirectional, bidirectional, and common mode Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) from STMicroelectronics. It features a breakdown voltage of 40V and an operating temperature range of -55 to 150°C. This device is designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from destructive surges and ESD, such as cell phones, computers and other electronic controllers. It is available in the SMA and SMB packages, and can handle up to 6A of peak pulse current.
