MPQ8623 16V, 6A, High Efficiency, Synchronous, Step-Down Converter with Adjustable Current Limit Proprietary Switching Loss Reduction DESCRIPTION Technique The MPQ8623 is a fully integrated, high- Adaptive Constant-On-Time (COT) for frequency, synchronous, buck converter. The Ultrafast Transient Response MPQ8623 offers a very compact solution that Stable with Zero ESR Output Capacitor achieves up to 6A of output current with excellent 0.5% Reference Voltage Over 0C to load and line regulation over a wide input supply +70C Junction Temperature Range range. The MPQ8623 operates at high efficiency 1% Reference Voltage Over -40C to over a wide output current load range. +125C Junction Temperature Range The MPQ8623 adopts an internally Selectable Forced CCM or Pulse-Skip compensated constant-on-time (COT) control Operation that provides fast transient response and eases Excellent Load Regulation loop stabilization. Output Voltage Tracking The operating frequency can be set to 600kHz, Output Voltage Discharge 1100kHz, or 2000kHz easily with MODE PGOOD Active Clamped at Low Level configuration, allowing the MPQ8623 frequency during Power Failure to remain constant regardless of the input and Programmable Soft-Start Time from 1.5ms output voltages. and Up Pre-Bias Start-Up The output voltage start-up ramp is controlled by Selectable Switching Frequency from an internal 1.5ms timer, which can be increased 600kHz, 1100kHz, and 2000kHz by adding a capacitor on TRK/REF. An open- Latch-Off for OCP, OVP, UVP, OTP, and drain power good (PGOOD) signal indicates if UVLO the output is within its nominal voltage range. Output Adjustable from 0.9V to 0.9 x VIN Up PGOOD is clamped to around 0.7V with an external pull-up voltage when the input supply to 6V Max fails to power the MPQ8623. Available in a QFN-14 (2mmx3mm) Package Full protection features include over-current APPLICATIONS protection (OCP), over-voltage protection (OVP), under-voltage protection (UVP), and Telecom and Networking Systems over-temperature protection (OTP). Servers, Cloud-Computing, Storage Base Stations The MPQ8623 requires a minimal number of General Purpose Point-of-Load (PoL) readily available, standard, external components 12V Distribution Power Systems and is available in a QFN-14 (2mmx3mm) package.
